Nirvana Yoga is a complete science of health, healing, and spiritual evolution, founded and developed by His Holiness Bodhisatvan Madhavacharyan. This system was created through fifty years of dedicated research, meditation, and realization. Nirvana Yoga is not limited to physical postures or their variations — it is a way of life for achieving physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being.

This holistic system offers highly specialized yogic practices for curing and managing various physical and mental health problems. It is a path that integrates ethical discipline with practical methods, leading to health, peace, happiness, love, and wisdom.

Nirvana Yoga includes a wide range of yogic techniques that remove the root cause and symptoms of diseases and imbalances from the causal, energy, and physical bodies. It represents the highest level of integration — uniting the body, mind, and soul — and helps an individual attain lasting well-being and harmony at all levels of life.

Philosophy

Nirvana Yoga is a non-religious system of philosophy and science.
‘Nirvana’ means the state of self-realization and total liberation from suffering, while ‘Yoga’ means union — the merging of the individual self with the Universal Self.

Nirvana Yoga is based on a five-fold path of liberation, which guides the transformation of the body, mind, and soul through five progressive phases leading to Self-realization.

The Five-Fold Path of Nirvana Yoga

  1. Nishkama Seva (Selfless Service) – Service to humanity is service to God. It is the practice of helping others without any expectation, which helps dissolve the ego — the root cause of all suffering.

  2. Sadhana (Yogic Practices) – A complete system of practices for physical and mental health, purification, and awakening of consciousness. The main practices include:

    • Asana Kriya – a series of continuous physical postures

    • Asana – static yogic postures

    • Pranayama – breathing techniques for controlling vital energy

    • Dhyana – meditation practices

    • Kriya – special yogic techniques combining movement, breath, and awareness

    • Araiki – advanced healing and meditation using universal energy

    • Yoga Chikitsa – therapeutic Yoga

    • Psychotherapy – for emotional and mental balance

  3. Samarpanam (Surrender of the Ego) – The act of surrendering the sense of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ and receiving the right knowledge about the Self and creation through the guidance of the Guru.

  4. Samadhi – The state of deep meditation and spiritual absorption where the mind becomes still, allowing deep healing and transformation to occur at all levels.

  5. Sampoorna Layanam (Nirvana) – The final stage of Self-realization and liberation, where the soul merges completely with the Universal Consciousness. The individual becomes an embodiment of truth, love, and wisdom, acting selflessly for the transformation of society from ignorance to knowledge and from hatred to love.

Health and Nirvana Yoga

In Nirvana Yoga, health is defined as a state of balance and well-being at the physical, mental, social, and spiritual levels. The system offers various practices that guide a person through progressive stages of unification (Yogam) with universal energy:

1. Sthula Yogam – Unification at the Physical Level

Benefits:

  • Increases the flow of vital energy throughout the body

  • Balances overactive and underactive functions of organs

  • Improves flexibility, strength, stamina, and vitality

  • Enhances immunity and prevents disease

  •

2. Sukshma Yogam – Unification at the Mental Level

Benefits:

  • Reduces uncontrolled thoughts and improves concentration

  • Strengthens the mind and enhances emotional stability

  • Removes stress and its root causes

3. Bodha Yogam – Unification at the Consciousness Level

Benefits:

  • Awakens higher consciousness and awareness

  • Transcends negative thought patterns

  • Leads to inner peace, virtue, and a higher quality of life

Nirvana Yoga thus offers a complete path for total well-being — harmonizing body, mind, and soul, and guiding every individual toward a life of peace, wisdom, and liberation.
